5 things you probably didn’t know about the all-new, all-you Maybank2u

Categories: Maybank2u

While we were interviewing people about what they thought about M2U, we discovered a lot of interesting facts, some of which surprised us but most of which confirmed that we were on to a good thing.  Here are 5 facts about M2U that we thought would be cool to share:

1. M2U is the biggest Malaysian bank on the Internet

M2U is Malaysia’s first and leading internet banking portal, since we first launched in 2000. If you’re really into numbers, you’ll be interested to know that:

  • M2U has nearly a million active users.
  • There are 600 payee corporations for you to choose from to pay your bills.
  • We process about 25 million transactions worth 3 billion ringgit a month.

2. M2U is designed for the user

We set out to remake our website as a true consumer banking portal. To make M2U as user-oriented as possible, we asked 125 people over a period of 3 months what they thought of our website and how we could improve our internet banking service.

We really wanted to know what people liked, what people hated and what we could do to make M2U more about you and the things you care about. So, yes, we did our homework.

3. M2U is meaner and leaner

We literally trimmed the fat. With our new design, we reduced our website’s content by 50%. We threw away all the pages that didn’t make sense, cut out the processes that didn’t work and reorganized M2U to work faster and better than ever before.

4. M2U is easier and smarter

In recreating our new website, M2U along with our web agency AGENDA catalogued all 3,000+ pages on M2U. That’s a lot of pages!

Next, we ran usability tests and reorganised our content into groups to make navigating and using the features of M2U more natural and intuitive. AGENDA designed page templates specifically for the different types of content across the portal, which more effectively highlighted the site content and assisted users in learning about Maybank’s products, finding a product or to make transactions.

Together, these improvements make it easier for people to find information and use M2U.

5. M2U is future-friendly

M2U was made to last. We upgraded our technology using modern code on a next-generation platform; it’s more stable, more scalable and introduces new Web 2.0-style features.

With a new mindset, modern website templates, better content management and streamlined internal processes, M2U now paves the way for richer interactive content, online support and even mobile banking in the future.

Stay tuned for more innovations from M2U!

  1. Victor Says:

Will take some getting use to the new interface. The UI definitely looks cleaner. The “choose an action” drop down list beside your account in the All Accounts function is a nice touch.

Overall, a good effort to breathe new life into the Internet Banking website.

  2. Danny Says:

    Good stuff dudes

  3. remi Says:

    hi all,

    1. the design is clean. good job. i like the welcome page.
    2. but it takes more than 2-3 clicks before you can accomplish a task, not like before. for example, fund transfer. WEB 2.0 should be all about efficient data transfer with ajax and stuffs in which page reloading should be minimised to some acceptable extent. Page reloading is so not web 2.0.
    3. you use a lot of words. no icons. which should make the site faster…but you make people reads…this is exactly what vista do. vista failed…are you? icons do help people recognize things faster after some time.
    4. please observe cpanel. properly grouped functions, easy layout customization via draggable panels and use of unique icons highlighting mechanism, does help users like me.

thats all for now. sorry for the harsh comments. i luv m2u and that’s how i show my love :-) . I know m2u can do better than this.

  4. Simon Says:

The new design looks great, the navigation tabs at the top much better compared to the old site. One thing, could you change the yellow coloured titles in the main content area? e.g. “Accounts & Banking”, “Cards”…etc a bit hard to read on certain LCD screens. Thanks.

  5. Muid Latif Says:

I’m loving the new look. Thank you for taking a great leap to join the web 2.0 age with simplicity and greater design ;-)

  6. Pai Says:

it would be lovely if the overall layout is optimized for at least 1024*768 resolution.. everybody’s screen is getting bigger nowadays u know.. im tired of zooming in already.. and i believe in this 2.0 era, nobody give a damn about 800*600 already.. :)

    any luck on mobile version?

  7. Khalid Says:

    can i request something here?
1-put option to export to pdf after finish transaction…people like to keep digital rather than physical
    2-paypal topup?
    3-m2u for pda?

  8. JasonSky Says:

Whats with the half-back / half-white design? looks just weird… either pick a solid black or a solod white as your background…

Haven got time to check the functionality of the new shortcuts but I will update you when I do.

Overall nice job compare to the previous one you did…

M2U is one of the pioneers of Internet Banking in Malaysia but the slowest to update/upgrade your service. Thank god you guys finally decided to make a move.

  9. Rezolles Says:

    Dear Maybank,

1)It took me almost 20secs just to login into my account.
2)Its very heavy.Consume a lot of my CPU usage.(this is not happen when i use the current maybank2u.com.my)
3)Its logout by a sudden when I was about to check my treats points
    You have been logged out

    System error

Some of the data expected from the browser was not received.

So, I hope u guys aware of this bug and improve this web.

  10. zulhairi Says:

1- duh where’s the maybank logo dude? it a company logo dude!!!
2- it took me gazillion hour just to log in (in house line). mean it heavy.
3- love the new appearance giving a new fresh look. but don’t like the half color.
4- after login interface - not very promising… need more to improve.
5- like to sugest. pls take a good example of stand/chart , HSBC web site… how they manage/organise the layout on their site. it simple and easy.
6- hope you could spice up more on “myzone” web site.

that’s all for now. like to comment more but maybe later. keep up the good work TIGER!!

  11. Robbie Chang Says:

Suggest to enhance the Credit card billings functionality to include a feature which will allow users to view unbilled transactions before the billing period. Currently, it shows only the total amount, but not the breakdown of items.

  12. admin Says:

Sorry for the delay in replying to comments. Told you we were still figuring this blogging out :)

@victor: Thank you Victor for your comment, glad that you like our revamped M2U. Because M2U 2.0 is a totally new look & feel, so users definitely need some time to get used to it. Nevertheless, we hope your journey with M2U 2.0 will be a pleasant one :)

    @Dannny: Thanks dude!

@remi: Hey Remi, thanks for your feedbacks. We welcome all type of feedback with open heart and open mind because M2U is all about you :) And we are pleased to know that you like our design.
What transactions do you perform via M2U? Do you know that at the M2U 2.0 landing page upon login, we have placed ‘Quick Link’ for specific transactions such as Bill Payment, Transfers and so on for your ease and convenience and thus, saving you the ‘clicks’?
We appreciate your comments on page reloading, icons and cpanel, these are some of the many areas we are currently reviewing and considering.

@simon: Thanks Simon for your comments. We appreciate your comment on the ‘yellow tabs’ and keeping it as one of our considerations. By the way, yellow is our corporate color :P

@Muid, happy to know that you’re loving M2U 2.0’s look. Thanks!

@Pai: Hey, thanks for your comment on page resolution. In fact, we have received a fair number of similar feedbacks. We are definitely looking into this and working on it now.
About your query on mobile banking, do you know that you can perform online banking via M2U using your mobile phone? This service is called ‘M2U Mobile’. You can visit our website to find out more info about M2U Mobile (http://tinyurl.com/42at9j)

@Rezolles, Thank you for notifying us about the bug. We noticed that M2U 2.0 has been experiencing a slight jam lately (government servants just got their bonus mah.. :D) and be rest assured that we are looking into this matter.

  13. admin Says:

Hi to you too Zulhairi… Thanks for all your comments, especially for giving us an insight to our competitor’s offerings ;) Anyway, we’re pleased to let you know that ‘Myzone’ will be migrated to M2U 2.0 soon.

  14. Rezolles Says:

    Maybank,

I would like to suggest to install script to allow users to view statement on real time with the credit/debit and balance after the transactions.

For example, now maybank introduced E-Statements which will display the history of transactions of debit/credit and balance after those transactions. But need to wait at the end of the month.

Unlike CIMB, customers can view it on real time which is really helps especially business users.

One more, please allow customers to put comment/remarks for Fund Transfer to another account such as IBG/3rd party transfer. This is to ease customer and actually helps customer remember what is the transaction all about.

    Thank you.

  15. Zul Says:

    Hi,

Would like to comment on layout/appearance:
1 - better if you could rearrange myzone, maybank islamic logo etc to the side,
2 - the icons not so attractive, looks like free icons from internet. are you using ur in-house designer? why don’t you use aqua icons, much nicer…

  16. navedb Says:

Mobile banking is available for most phones but it’s not the same for most pda users with Windows mobile platform… any updates?

  17. pepijatIT Says:

Congrat for the new m2u beta lauching. New feel and look. My comments are:

    - My father (older people) get confused with the new look and concepts. I think remi’s ideas on icon concept would be better.

    - No more m2u online stocks forwarding links?

    - Kindly suggest to aseambanks to upgrade their stocks app. Not investor friendly.

    Tq.

    hi admin,

    First,
congratulation on your new beta m2u.

    Second,
You have to seriously improve on loading time because it’s involve others people money. People will tend to click several times just log in. I have been log out/error a few times. This is a serious problem.

Please improve user interface. I thought Web 2.0 use more icons to simplify website interface.

    Anyway,

  21. hamizah Says:

Please……, tried many times to log in but failed since last week. Strictly inconvenience for me compare to Mb2u. It disturbes my business transaction.

  22. Cheryl Says:

    Keep up the good work.

  23. Malek Says:

Please allow us to make a fund transfers to a corporate sdn bhd accounts!!!

  24. Jeremy Says:

Hi, I’m just writing about the font on mb2u, would it be possible to increase the font size? Especially for older people who may find the fonts too small to read.

Re the design, the icons look very unprofessional, like they’ve been taken out from Google. A simple, standardized icon for each heading would be more appropriate. Also, maybe use more diagrams/ images, especially of people? They really help to brighten up site.

Have a look at the website for The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (www.commbank.com.au); their layout is quite similar to mb2u but is more user friendly and very professional. I’m sure we can learn a thing or two from them. Cheers

  25. Shirley Says:

    I wholly agree with MALEK

Please allow us to make a fund transfers to a corporate sdn bhd accounts!!!

I was able to make a such a fund transfer previously BUT why the sudden change………….

  26. admin Says:

Hey Malek & Shirley, we are pleased to inform you that the feature to make 3rd party fund transfer to corporate current accounts is now available.
